About Kataboom
What the platform is, who it supports and where to begin.
What is Kataboom?+
Kataboom is a business technology and commerce platform designed to help businesses manage sales and inventory, organize operations, connect with customers, and explore opportunities for growth.
Who is Kataboom for?+
It is designed primarily for retailers, shop owners, growing SMEs, and businesses that need better visibility into their operations and a more connected approach to selling.
What problem does Kataboom solve?+
It aims to reduce the challenges caused by disconnected business processes, limited stock visibility, scattered sales records, and difficulty connecting physical retail with digital commerce.
Is Kataboom just a POS system?+
No. POS is one part of the broader Kataboom ecosystem. The wider product vision includes inventory, online storefronts, business discovery, customer growth, and other business tools. The features available to each customer depend on the product and rollout stage.
Is Kataboom suitable for a small shop?+
The product is intended to serve small and growing businesses. The best fit depends on the shop's operational needs, supported workflows, and the available plan.
Products and availability
What each Kataboom product owns and how to choose the right starting point.
View the product family →Which Kataboom products are available?+
Command Centre, POS & Inventory, Storefront, Yellow Pages, 360 Marketing and Field Sales are available. Deployment scope, plan inclusion and any required connection are confirmed before activation.
Which product should my business start with?+
Start with the problem you need to solve. Use Command Centre and an assessment when priorities are unclear. Choose POS & Inventory for counter sales and stock control, Storefront for online selling, or Yellow Pages for local discovery. Kataboom can help confirm the best fit before activation.
What does Command Centre do?+
Command Centre provides company onboarding, assessments, reports and a shared view of business health. It gives oversight and recommendations but does not replace the operational records owned by POS & Inventory or Storefront.
How do POS & Inventory and Storefront work together?+
POS & Inventory owns in store sales, stock and related operational records. Storefront owns the online shopping and order experience. When configured, the two products communicate directly so online orders and inventory remain aligned.
How is product availability confirmed?+
Each product is available, while deployment scope, plan inclusion, provider connections and activation requirements can differ by company. Kataboom confirms these details before activation.
Pricing, security and support
Commercial terms, data protection, onboarding, trials and verified support.
How much does Kataboom cost?+
Pricing should depend on the selected plan, business requirements, users, branches, and enabled features. Use the current official pricing page or contact the sales team for verified prices.
Is my business data secure?+
Kataboom should protect business data through appropriate access controls, secure communications, tenant isolation, backups, monitoring, and tested recovery procedures. Kataboom explains the protections and policies that are implemented and verified rather than promising absolute security.
Do I need technical skills to use Kataboom?+
The aim is to make business workflows accessible to everyday users. Training and onboarding can help you configure products, learn routine tasks, and establish consistent processes.
What happens after I sign up?+
The intended journey is to set up your business profile, configure the relevant features, add products and users, learn the main workflows, and begin using the system. The exact onboarding steps depend on the product and plan.
Can I try Kataboom before paying?+
Availability of a free assessment, product demo, or trial depends on the current offer. You can take the business assessment or contact the team to discuss the available options.
What if I need help?+
Use the verified Kataboom support channel for your plan. The Contact page provides the current route for product, account, billing, partnership and privacy enquiries.
How do I get started?+
Start by describing your business and its main challenges. You can then explore the relevant Kataboom tools, take the business assessment if available, or request a demonstration.
Accounts and workspaces
Starting as a guest, keeping results and working with your team.
Do I need an account to start an assessment?+
No. You can begin as a guest, save progress and receive a result without first creating an account. A private resume link lets you return to that assessment.
Can I keep a guest assessment in my account?+
Yes. Create and verify an account, then use the private assessment link to claim the result. After it is claimed, you will need to sign in to access it.
What is a company workspace?+
A company workspace is the shared area for your organisation. It holds approved company details, team access, assessments, subscriptions and the product context available to that organisation.
Can several people use the same workspace?+
Yes, within the member limit of the selected plan. Access should be assigned to named users so roles and important actions remain accountable.
Assessments
How the assessment works, what the result means and how to continue safely.
What is a Kataboom assessment?+
It is a structured review of how your business operates across areas such as sales, inventory, finance, customers, security and technology. Your answers are scored using published rules, then presented as clear priorities and practical recommendations.
How long does an assessment take?+
The current Business Health Assessment usually takes about five to ten minutes. The exact time depends on the detail in your answers and whether you pause to gather information.
Does artificial intelligence decide my score?+
No. The current assessment uses defined scoring rules, weighted calculations, benchmarks and recommendation rules. This makes the result explainable and repeatable.
Can I pause and return later?+
Yes. You can save your progress and return through your private resume link. Keep that link secure because it provides access to the saved assessment.
Will the report explain my result?+
Yes. The report shows the areas that influenced your score, the main gaps identified and the recommendations connected to those findings. Any estimate should also state the assumptions behind it.
Is the assessment a substitute for professional advice?+
No. It provides practical business guidance based on the information you submit. Decisions involving legal, tax, accounting, medical or other regulated matters should be reviewed with an appropriately qualified professional.
POS, stock and business operations
Sales, inventory, branches, manual records and offline-operation expectations.
Can Kataboom help me track my stock?+
Kataboom's inventory capabilities are designed to support stock records and visibility. Ask for a demonstration of the specific functions available for your business, such as stock movements, adjustments, transfers, and low-stock monitoring.
Can I track my sales?+
Kataboom POS is designed to support transaction recording and sales visibility. Available reports and analytics should be confirmed for the plan you choose.
Can I manage more than one branch?+
Multi-branch management is part of the broader product opportunity. Confirm current branch support, stock transfers, permissions, and consolidated reporting before committing to a plan.
Can Kataboom replace all my spreadsheets and notebooks?+
It may replace some manual workflows, depending on your business processes and the features available. A guided assessment or demonstration can help identify which records and processes can be migrated or managed in Kataboom.
Does Kataboom support offline operations?+
Offline functionality is an important part of the Kataboom product direction. Customers should confirm which devices and workflows currently support offline use, how data synchronizes after reconnecting, and what limitations apply.
Online selling and integrations
Storefront availability, social connections and migration expectations.
Can I sell online with Kataboom?+
Kataboom's commerce ecosystem includes an online storefront direction designed to connect businesses with digital selling opportunities. Confirm current storefront availability, checkout functionality, and supported payment options.
Does Kataboom integrate with WhatsApp or Instagram?+
Social and messaging commerce are part of the broader ecosystem vision. Confirm which integrations are currently live and which require additional setup before advertising them as available.
Can I migrate my existing products and stock records?+
Migration options depend on your current system, data format, and the import tools supported by Kataboom. The onboarding team should assess your files and confirm the migration process before implementation.
Mobile sales, receipts, QR codes and printing
Using a phone for sales and choosing safe, supported receipt and printing workflows.
Can I use my phone to make sales with Kataboom?+
Yes, Kataboom is designed to support mobile-friendly business workflows. Where mobile POS functionality is enabled, you can use a compatible smartphone to select products, enter quantities, calculate the total, record a sale, and provide a receipt to your customer.
The available functions depend on your Kataboom POS version, device, and configuration.
Can I use my phone instead of a computer or laptop?+
Yes, where the mobile POS interface is supported, you can use your smartphone for sales and other supported tasks. This gives merchants the flexibility to serve customers at a shop counter, market stall, pop-up store, or other suitable selling location.
For high-volume operations, a tablet, computer, or dedicated POS setup may be more convenient.
Can I select different receipt options after making a sale?+
Kataboom should provide a receipt options menu after a successful sale, allowing merchants to select an appropriate delivery method. Depending on the configured and available features, options may include:
The POS should clearly indicate which options are available for the current device and sale.
- QR code: Display or generate a QR code that customers can scan to access their receipt or a secure receipt link.
- WhatsApp: Share the receipt or receipt link with the customer through WhatsApp.
- Email: Send a digital receipt to the customer's email address.
- Thermal printer: Print a physical receipt using a compatible thermal printer.
- Digital receipt link: Copy or share a receipt link through another supported channel.
How do I make a sale using my phone?+
The general process is:
Always confirm the sale status before sending a receipt or accepting another payment for the same transaction.
- Open Kataboom POS on your compatible phone and sign in.
- Select or search for the products the customer wants to buy.
- Enter the quantities and verify the prices, discounts, taxes, and total where applicable.
- Select the payment method and record or confirm the payment according to the configured workflow.
- Confirm that the sale has been successfully recorded.
- Open the receipt options and choose how the customer wants to receive the receipt.
How can I send a receipt through WhatsApp?+
After a sale, select the WhatsApp receipt option if it is available. Choose or enter the customer's phone number, review the receipt or receipt link, and share it through the supported WhatsApp workflow.
The customer can then view the receipt on their phone. Depending on the implementation, sharing may open WhatsApp for the merchant to confirm sending, or use an approved integration.
A WhatsApp account or approved integration may be required. Never assume that a message has been sent successfully until the relevant workflow confirms it.
Can I email a receipt directly from my phone?+
Yes, if email receipts are enabled. Enter or select the customer's email address, review the receipt details, and send the receipt through the configured email service.
Kataboom should show whether the email was queued or sent, and provide an appropriate error message if delivery fails. A queued email does not necessarily mean that the recipient has received it.
Can customers receive receipts by scanning a QR code?+
Yes, where QR receipts are supported. The merchant can display or print a QR code associated with the transaction. The customer scans it with their phone to open the relevant receipt or receipt page.
For privacy and security, the QR code should point to a secure, unpredictable receipt link or use an appropriate access mechanism. It should not expose other customers' transactions or sensitive business information.
Can I print receipts from my phone using a thermal printer?+
Yes, provided that Kataboom supports the printer connection method and the printer is compatible with the phone. Depending on the device and printer, supported connections may include:
Before printing, pair or connect the printer, select it in the supported print settings, and perform a test print. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, and browser printing do not work identically on every phone or printer, so compatibility should be checked.
- Bluetooth: Common for portable thermal receipt printers.
- Wi-Fi or local network: Suitable for compatible network-connected printers.
- USB or USB-OTG: Available on supported phones and printers with the required adapters and software support.
How do I choose between WhatsApp, email, QR code, and thermal printing?+
After a successful sale, open the receipt options and select the method preferred by the customer.
Where supported, merchants should be able to use a digital receipt option and a printed receipt for the same transaction without creating a duplicate sale.
- Choose thermal printing when the customer wants a physical receipt.
- Choose WhatsApp when the customer prefers to receive a receipt on their messaging app.
- Choose email when the customer wants a receipt in their inbox.
- Choose QR code when the customer can scan a displayed or printed code to access their receipt.
Can I print a receipt and also send it digitally?+
Yes, if both options are supported. A merchant should be able to print the receipt and then share it digitally, or use another supported sequence, without recording the sale twice.
All receipt formats should show consistent transaction details, including the sale reference, date, items, quantities, totals, and applicable payment information.
What happens if my thermal printer is not connected?+
The sale should remain recorded if the transaction was successfully completed, even if printing fails afterward. Kataboom should explain the printing problem and let the merchant reconnect the printer and retry printing the existing receipt.
Retrying a receipt must not create a new sale or charge the customer again.
Can I use Kataboom when my internet connection is poor?+
Offline functionality depends on the supported Kataboom POS version and the workflows enabled on your device. Where offline sales are supported, the application should explain whether a transaction has been saved locally, whether payment verification is still pending, and when synchronization is complete.
Some features, including email delivery, WhatsApp integrations, and certain payment confirmations, may require an internet connection. Merchants should not treat an unconfirmed payment as successful merely because a sale was entered offline.
Can I use a QR code to accept payments?+
A QR code can serve different purposes. A receipt QR code provides access to a receipt, while a payment QR code initiates or identifies a payment through a supported payment provider.
Kataboom should clearly distinguish these functions. Payment QR support depends on the configured payment integration and must not be advertised as available unless it has been implemented and verified.
Do I need a special printer to print Kataboom receipts?+
You need a compatible printer and a supported connection method. Many merchants use compact thermal receipt printers because they are convenient for retail counters and mobile selling. Before buying a printer, confirm its supported paper width, Bluetooth or network compatibility, command language where relevant, and compatibility with your specific phone and Kataboom POS setup.
What should I do if a customer does not receive a receipt?+
First, confirm that the sale was recorded successfully. Then check the selected delivery method:
If necessary, retry receipt delivery using the original transaction. Do not create another sale just to resend a receipt.
- For WhatsApp, confirm the correct number and whether the message was sent.
- For email, verify the address and check the delivery status.
- For QR receipts, check that the code opens the correct receipt.
- For thermal printing, confirm the printer connection, paper supply, and print status.
Connections and data
How information moves between products and what connected social channels mean.
Does connecting a product give it control of everything?+
No. Each product keeps responsibility for its own operational records. Shared information is limited to the purpose of the connection, and oversight views should not silently edit sales, stock, orders or customer records.
How are WhatsApp and Instagram used?+
Where a verified Meta connection is enabled, Kataboom can bring permitted customer conversations and social intent into an accountable business workflow. Access depends on the permissions granted, the connected account and the features approved for that deployment.
Will Kataboom send messages without approval?+
Connected messaging should follow the approved workflow, customer consent and platform rules. Human review and clear ownership remain important, especially for replies, campaigns and sensitive customer requests.
How will I know if connected data is incomplete?+
A responsible view should show the source, connection state and freshness of important information. Missing, delayed or partial data should be labelled rather than presented as a complete business picture.
Can Kataboom connect to any service?+
Not automatically. Every connection must be verified for authentication, permissions, security, failure handling and expected behaviour before it is presented as supported. Contact Kataboom to confirm a specific provider.
Payments and billing
What is free, when charges begin and how payment information is handled.
Review pricing →Can I start for free?+
Yes. The current free workspace has no subscription charge and includes one organisation, up to three members and one assessment per billing period. Check the pricing page for the current published limits. Multi-currency support is on our roadmap.
Will a paid plan begin automatically?+
No. A paid plan or trial should not begin until the scope, limits, billing interval, price and applicable terms have been stated and approved.
Which payment methods can customers use?+
Available methods depend on the configured payment provider and merchant setup. Where supported, checkout can offer relevant card or provider led options, while receipts can be printed, emailed, shared through WhatsApp or provided by QR code.
Does Kataboom store card or bank credentials?+
Payment credentials should remain within the approved payment provider boundary. Kataboom keeps the business context needed for the sale, such as the order, amount, status and responsible owner, rather than storing card or bank credentials.
Privacy and support
How your information is used and where to ask for help.
Read the Privacy page →How are my assessment answers used?+
Your answers are used to calculate and display your result, save your progress and provide relevant recommendations. They are not permission for marketing contact. Marketing consent is requested separately.
Can I ask to access, correct or delete my information?+
Yes, where applicable. Use the contact page to submit a privacy request. Kataboom may need to verify your identity before acting on a request that affects personal or company information.
Where can I read the privacy details?+
The Privacy page explains what information is collected, why it is used, how long it may be retained and the choices available to you.
How do I get help with my account or product?+
Use the Contact page and describe the account, product and action involved. Do not include passwords, payment credentials or other secrets. For a product fit conversation, you can also book a practical demo.
